My husband and I have been hiking together for years. It’s what we do together. Or at least we leave and return to the trailhead at the same time. He is almost a foot taller than I, and a few years younger. His long legs carry him quickly over the hill. He is on a mission. I, on the other hand, am out for a quiet walk in nature. I stop to take a photo here and there, then sit on the bench at the top of the hill taking in the stillness that only comes when no one else is nearby.

Eventually, I catch up to my husband and we walk back together.

Hiking the De Anza Trail
Hiking is one of the things I look forward to doing more of when I retire.
